Hi, I'm Lisa. I'm a huge ass history nerd. I'm a women's historian.I study European women's history (1500-present) and US history (to 1865). I blog mostly about the history I study and feminism.

Homosexuality was not a concept when the books of the Bible were being written. Homosexuality didn’t come about until the Victorian Era. Even then, we wouldn’t identify with the homosexuality of that Era. Also, in case you forgot, the Bible was not written in English.

edit: Yes, same-sex relationships happened in the past. Men had sex with other men and women had sex with other women. The concepts of heterosexuality and homosexuality did not exist until the late 19th century. No one in the ancient hebrew, roman, or greek cultures would have considered themselves homosexuals or heterosexuals. The way we view sexuality is different from how ancient cultures viewed sexuality [same goes for other time periods as well]. Sexuality is a social construct.
